Split hopper barges

The split hopper barges are used for dredging, filling and hydraulic engineering works. The split hopper barge delivers the dredged material to the desired place, splits the hull there and after the hopper unloaded, the hydraulic system closes the hull and the barge returns for a new cargo.
In recent years Ganz Danubius HUTI constructed more than 30 units of various capacity and type split hopper barges. These barges operate around the world from Scandinavia to South-Africa.
Recommended splitbarge sizes and types according to the shipping area:

  • inland – self-propelled split barge 600-1000 m3, non-propelled split barge 40-1000 m3

  • costal service – self-propelled split barge 600-2700 m3, non-propelled split barge 160-1000 m3

  • offshore – self-propelled split barge 600-2700 m3, non-propelled split barge 600-1000 m3

Besides we also build higher capacity split hopper barges according to the customer’s requirements. Ganz Danubius delivers 160 m3 capacity splitbarge which can be detached into four parts and can be transported by truck.
The higher capacity splitbarge can be equipped with a dredging equipment so a barge can dispose alone the whole workflow: dredging, delivering, filling.

Certification:

We can build the split barges with certificates of any European Classification Society.
For operation on inland waters within the EU, we usually deliver the splitbarges with Community Inland Navigation Certificate (CINC) according to European Directive 2006/87/EC issued by the Hungarian National Transport Authority, valid everywhere in the EU. This is a cost effective solution.
